San Juan Mexican Restaurant in Russell

Came with a family of 16 (including 3 little kids) and they were very nice. The service was incredibly fast. Even faster than a typical restaurant with a small group.

Quick service, delicious food, wonderful margaritas, fair prices. All around great!

I've had many taco salads at different Mexican restaurants. Tonight, San Juan's topped them all! Great service and food.

Some good and others not that good. Some items far better than others. It's ok overall. The best thing here is I have to give the employees and owners working there an A for effort. They do try their best to make sure your table is served in a timely manner. Even if they are swamped under busy, they always try to make sure your table is taken care of like the rest.

Excellent food, service, margaritas, and staff. Conveniently located and it's a great place to relax while enjoying your meal. Has a nice family atmosphere and is always sunny at San Juan Mexican Restaurant.

Will never ever go back there again. Wish I could of left no stars but that wasn’t an option. Take the extra time and travel an extra 18 miles to hays for better service and food. The owner tries to nickel and dime u for everything. Charge for burnt chip and salsa never been to a Mexican restaurant that charged for chips and salsa. The food portions were small nothing compared to the serving sizes in Hays. I guess I got spoiled with hays good service and food portions. Live and learn and never go back. Hope this helps many others to make the right choice. God bless America!!!!

Feel like you're being overcharged? You are. They add items to your order that they know you didn't order and their receipt doesn't show anything you ordered for that special reason. Tonight, they only had me and one other couple in and they still tried to add an extra $4 to my order. This is a recurring issue. 3/5 of the times I've been there eating with my parents, my dad figures everything up and sure enough, has been overcharged. Sometimes it's a whole extra meal, depending on what they think they'll get away with. Food is okay. Nothing to go tell mom about. Why did I go back? It's Russell.

Immediately following my copious consumption of corn chips and salsa, I fell into a food coma. When I came to, I was still sitting on one of those booth seats (that’s connected to the ones behind you in a way that makes the chair shift a little when your neighbor gets excited), caught in the frenzy of dinner rush characterized by hordes of voices and background Mariachi bands. San Juan is cluttered and a little disorganized. Still, their value and tastiness outshines those imperfections.

Nicely mexican themed restaurant, very colorful, with plenty of seating. The menu has a large selection of authentic style food. We were seated quickly along with good service. All of our food was served hot and quick. Food was excellent. The owner was very cool. He even sold us one of his colorful Mexican themed table chairs. We will return here for food again next time we're in Russell, Kansas.

Food is good. Price is fair but the building is filthy and needs a major overhaul and deep cleaning.

We were passing through town on a roadtrip. The staff were friendly, food was very good, and service was fast. I'm glad we took a chance on this place.

Food was delish! Worth the stop if you're driving on I-70! They were super kind. We got our order to go because they didn't have any outdoor seating- but they we were sweet and bagged up chips and delicous salsa for us in addition to our order!

Too many carrots and broccoli in the veggie fajitas. Not much squash or zucchini

Just passing through - Good salsa, chili relleno is very good, and the enchilada was good. It tastes like they put nutmeg or something in their red enchilada sauce, but it wasn’t bad. Asked for some Tapatio and had a good lunch. Restrooms absolutely need improvement.

Cozy little place, true authentic mexican food, reasonable price

I have been here several times when I visit Russell. It is so good. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The food is authentic and great. It's one of my favorite places.

This small family owned restaurant has the most authentic Mexican food in this area. They have a great selection with excellent service.

Fantastic place around the halfway mark to Denver. I ate there on the way there and the way back. Great salsa, great lunch specials and attentive service. I was most impressed by their "molcajete" dish. Served in the traditional dish and piled high with chorizo, grilled chicken and steak. One of the better entrees I've had at a Mexican restaurant. I loved the feel and the atmosphere. I would eat there often if I lived close.

Great lunch!! our 5 yr old eat all here burrito, my 2 yr old loved the chicken nuggets.My wife and I had the carne asada burrito and it was exceptional. we are traveling cross country and called in the order and it was done at the time they said! We really enjoyed the whole experience! Next time we will dine inside, we can not wait to come back. Unfortunately no to-go Margaritas but that is Kansas for you. Seriously, give this place your business!

Our food wasn't the best. We've had better. I had nachos and cheese and it was a glob, cold and no flavor. When I told the cashier he just snickered. Won't be going back.

They have the best guacamole and their peach margarita is phenomenal too!!

The owner is an amazing person. I would love to see the building outside and inside better kept. When the buisness opened the food was perfect. It has since went downhill some. Still one of the BEST places to eat in Russell

Damn good food,,great service nd a worm environment

I love the vibrancy of this restaurant. It's a joy just to walk in and be transported to another world. Food is excellent the portions are really a good deal. Service can be slow and that's the bummer here.

Truly a little hidden gem! Delicious authentic Mexican food. The service was good... But they didn't know much English, so that made things slightly difficult. Still worth it for the good food at low prices!

Food was awesome and served to us fast. Service was great. Everyone was polite and friendly. Loved it!

Good atmosphere. Food is decent. There's room for improvement but I've definetly had worse food from other places before. I saw the server once when he took our order and again when he brought the drinks. Never saw the guy again after that.

Found this place driving through. Salsa was good but not spicy. Meat was cooked well and had solid beans rice and chips. Nice find on a road trip.

Outstanding! Food was great & drinks were generous.

Food was good but the service was non existent. Ordered cheese dip and it never came. Then, after being ignored the entire time we were there, they still tried to charge me for it. I'd also like to note that we were the only two people in the restaurant at the time so it's not like they were busy with other customers.

Host was confused when we asked for water, and said that he didn't know what bean dip was, even though it clearly said bean dip on the menu. Food was "fine." Had to ask for the bill. Salsa is more like flavorful ketchup.

Great food quick service. Perfect late lunch spot, good pick compared to the low variety of restaurants. I had the chicken quesadilla, they had their own style for it!

This place does delivery which should give it an extra star but that's not going to happen because when they deliver the food is usually cold and doesn't taste right however when you go inside and Order and they bring it to your table I would say it's pretty damn good
